CEBU, Philippines - Three siblings died after figuring in a vehicular accident which occurred at the provincial highway in barangay Kodia, Madridejos town in Bantayan Island last Monday dawn.
One Marisa Gidayawan called the assistance of police officers informing them of a vehicular accident on the said highway wherein three sisters got killed.
Policemen identified the fatalities as the Ybañez sisters - Juvelyn, 24 years old; Guerly, 22; and Ellen, 17, who are all single and residents of barangay Putian in Bantayan town.
Juvelyn, the eldest, was the one who was driving the motorcycle where her younger sisters were riding in pillion.
They were reportedly from a benefit dance in barangay Maribago of the said municipality.
At around 4 a.m., the three drove home traveling at the provincial road southeast bound for Bantayan proper allegedly under the influence of liquor.
Upon reaching the boundary of Madridejos and Bantayan towns, the motorcycle accidentally went through a hedgerow of bougainvillea plants and straight onto a concreted arc.
The victims sustained fatal injuries to the head and other parts of the body because of the impact and were immediately taken to the Bantayan District Hospital.
However, they were pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Lloyd Centeno. Liquor tests also showed that the victims were positive of alcoholic drinks, Centeno confirmed.
