CEBU, Philippines - The mayor of Carmen town, Sonia Pua, was provided two police escorts after she personally went to the office of Cebu Provincial Police Office chief Sr. Supt. Erson Digal yesterday morning to ask for protection after allegedly received a death threat.

Pua told the reporters that she received a text message after her bodyguard, Nonito Taoy was shot dead outside the M1 Security Agency office in barangay Cogon West around 4 p.m. last November.

“Ikaw sunod, including your family,” Pua said, quoting the text message.

Taoy, a retired policeman, worked as a supervisor and inspector for the M1 Security Agency that is reportedly owned by the Puas.

Witnesses said that four men onboard two motorcycles opened fire at Taoy. He was shot in the head and other parts of the body.

He was rushed to the nearby Danao City District Hospital but died before reaching the hospital.
