San Nicolas Police Station declared best urban station
CEBU, Philippines - The San Nicolas Police Station under the Cebu City Police Office bested all police stations in the country after being awarded as the best Urban Police Station by the Philippine National Police.
Aside from their accomplishments, the police station attributed their award to good leadership and the good attitude of the people working in the station.
“It’s all about the good leadership (of the station commander) and attitude of the people working there,” said CCPO director Patrocinio Comendador. CCPO was also awarded best police office in Region 7.
Sr. Insp. Noel Lomente, chief of the award-winning police station, said several agencies and individuals contributed to the station.
“We must be the best Urban Police Station because of not only our accomplishments, but we are also capitalizing on the help of the local officials and other stakeholders, and also maybe because we properly managed the resources given to us by the PNP,” he said.
He thanked Comendador, his immediate superior, for giving him the chance to become the station commander of San Nicolas Police Station.
Comendador said the police station has high a percentage of crime solution with 98 percent crimes solved last year. He said that of the criteria for judging, the highest percentage goes to the operations of the police station.
He added that the station won for having commanders like Lomente and Sr. Insp. Renero Agustin, who served for six months in the station, who are hardworking officials with good leadership.
The CCPO director calls on to other police stations to emulate the ways of San Nicolas Police Station. The station’s area of jurisdiction are the barangays of Calamba, Pasil, Suba, Sawang Calero, Pahina-San Nicolas, and San Nicolas Proper.
Lomente, in an interview with The FREEMAN, said he only knew of the results yesterday morning, though he already heard rumors last week about them winning the competition. He was able to confirm it after receiving the documentary confirmation from the Police Regional Office-7.
He further said he will go to Camp Crame on January 29, during the PNP’s 19th Anniversary, to receive the award. He will carry their station flag with the seal of the six barangays.
To be awarded with him are Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas for leading the best Regional Mobile Group and Sr. Supt. Augustus Marquez, director of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, who also heads the Provincial Mobile Group. — Niña G. Sumacot (FREEMAN NEWS)
