CEBU, Philippines - A Korean national and a resident of barangay Pasil were arrested in separate incidents in Cebu City after they were caught in possession of suspected shabu.
The Korean national, Kim See Woong, 38, was arrested in one of the rooms of an uptown hotel at midnight yesterday. Twenty-two small plastic packs of suspected shabu and five pieces of tinfoil were found in his possession. Another Korean national, Danil Kwen, 46, was the one who reported Woong’s activities to the police.
Woong is temporarily detained at the Mabolo Police Station pending the filing of charges against him for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Still, Mabolo Police chief David Señor said they are not discounting the possibility that the suspect was being set up by the informants. An investigation would reportedly be conducted on this regard.
Two hours before Woong’s arrest, police arrested Alberto Paro, 27, a resident of sitio Lawis in barangay Pasil. He was allegedly caught in possession of 10 plastic packets of suspected shabu.
Paro was arrested by personnel of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office who were conducting an operation against all forms of illegal activities in the said barangay.
They were at the interior portion of sitio Sudlonon where they chanced upon Paro. – Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
