Capitol fund for MRFs ready

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu provincial government will release the financial assistance it vowed last year to the different barangays for the putting up of a Materials Recovery Facility once the requirements will have been complied with.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has directed Provincial Planning and Development officer Adolfo Quiroga to make sure that all barangays comply with all the requirements so they would be able to start the operations of the MRF in line with the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Act.

Quiroga said that Garcia wants the immediate implementation of the program.Capitol has vowed financial assistance to the different barangays.

Every barangay will be given initial amount of P50,000 as seed money for the implementation.

Garcia believes that the solution to garbage problem depends largely on the response of the barangays.
