A First Hand Account Of The Tragedy: Commander of RP contingent writes about Haiti experience
CEBU, Philippines - When news about the earthquake in Haiti broke, members of the PMA Cebu Squad, Inc., an organization of graduates and former cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) were worried. The main reason for the worry is the fact that an active member of the Cebu Squad and its email group is currently in Haiti as commander of the 10th Philippine Contingent in Haiti – Army Lt. Col. Lope C. Dagoy of PMA class 1987.
Members of the Cebu Squad, most especially Police Sr. Supt. Augusto M. Marquez, Jr., who was Dagoy’s squad leader when the latter entered the PMA as a plebe in 1983, sent out an email asking the Army officer to inform the squad about his status.
The members of the PMA Cebu Squad waited and prayed for the safety of the Filipino troops in Haiti and were relieved to read the story that Dagoy had called his wife via satellite phone to make his initial report.
After several days, this is the first email that Lt. Col. Dagoy sent to the PMA Cebu Squad egroup, which we would like to share with you along with some pictures that he also sent. — Nimrod NL Quiñones (FREEMAN NEWS)
