Man faces illegal drug cases

CEBU, Philippines - A man has been charged for illegal drug selling, illegal drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia before the Regional Trial Court yesterday.

Police operatives who made a test buy at the place of Phaizal Cabanada also known as “Faizal Cabada” or “Dodo,” have filed charges against him.

Police Senior Insp. Patrick Freddi Vaño and PO3 Artemio Tumakay testified before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office that they were able to do a test buy operation against Cabanada after receiving reports that the latter was involved in illegal drug trade.

The two complainants said that they were able to buy drugs worth P500 from Cabanada which they made as basis in applying for a search warrant from the sala of RTC Branch 10 Judge Soliver Peras against the suspect.

But during the search in the Cabanada’s house in April 2009, the suspect was able to elude arrest after sensing the presence of authorities.

However, without his presence, police were able to find five plastic packs of shabu, together witn empty plastic pack, one bamboo clip, one improvised carton scoop and tissue papers.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group forwarded to the court the complaint against Cabanada after his failure to file his counter-affidavit to controvert the charges. – Jasmin U. Labaco/WAB   (FREEMAN NEWS)
