CEBU, Philippines - A man who was drunk was stabbed by an unidentified group of men allegedly for “thrill” last Saturday night in sitio Lahing-Lahing, barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
The victim was identified as Lodino Tagalog, 26, a stay-in construction worker of Dakay Construction assigned at the ongoing Persimmon construction in the said barangay. He is a native of Media Onse, Toledo City.
The victim told the police that he and his brother, Odchigue Tagalog, were about to go out from a videoke joint around 8 pm Saturday after a drinking session when a group of men suddenly mauled them for no apparent reason.
In the process, one of the attackers suddenly stabbed him with an ice pick on the right side of his back. The attackers then fled thereafter.
The victim, together with his brother, went to their bunkhouse nearby and Tagalog was subsequently taken to the Cebu City Medical Center by his co-worker Judy Henson.
A few hours later at 2am, elements of the Mabolo Police Station accompanied the victim to the Cebu City Police Office to have the case reported.
Police suspected the incident might just have been for “thrill” or the attackers might have envied the victims about something. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
