Sogod port to serve Leyte, Biliran vessels
The municipality of Sogod is expected to transform into a hub of inter-island vessels coming from Cebu’s neighboring provinces of Leyte and Biliran with the rehabilitation of the roll on-roll off port in barangay Tabunok.
Sogod Mayor Lissa Marie “Moonyeen” Durano made representation with Secretary Leandro Mendoza of the Department of Transportation and Communication for the repair of the RORO port.
Mendoza responded to the request of Durano and the port recently underwent rehabilitation works and is now ready for inter-island voyages.
According to Durano, the full operation of the said port is also seen to pump up the economic activities not only in Sogod but in the neighboring towns of Borbon, Catmon and Carmen as well. — Jose P. Sollano/MEEV
