School in Consolacion gets early Christmas gifts from ABCCI

CEBU, Philippines - Benevolence finds its way even to the most remote of places.

The Garing Elementary School in Consolacion town, located approximately 12 kilometers north of Cebu City, now enjoys two new restrooms and five personal computers after it was chosen as recipient of the Adopt-A-School program of the Ayala Business Club Cebu Inc. and its partner sponsors.

ABCCI President Roy Abraham said they wanted to help an education institution that “badly needs” assistance.

“We’ve been looking for something that we can help that will have a great impact, that’s why we decided to choose this school,” Abraham said.

Abraham said the two restrooms were constructed with wash basins to maintain sanitation while the five personal computers are intended for technological advancement of both teachers and students.

He disclosed that they also plan of converting an old room in the school into “the most modern nursery” with toys and reading materials.

A library that is complete with a comprehensive collection of books and encyclopedias would also be constructed.

Parent-Teachers Association President Noel Alivio expressed thanks to ABCCI for their “selfless act of reaching out to a school which needs help.”

He said ABCCI uplifted their spirits and that their community is willing to maintain the healthy relationship with the people with “good hearts”.

Yesterday, students of Garing Elementary School received gift items and other surprises from ABCCI.

Abrahan hopes that the project will establish long term-effects among the students.

ABCCI is composed of various companies like Ayala Foundation, Inc, Cebu City Marriot Hotel, Cebu Holdings, Inc., City Sports Club Cebu, Honda Cars Cebu, Inc. Innove Communication, Inc., and Isuzu Cebu, Inc., among others.

The club aims to construct and/or renovate more schools in the months to come. — Marjun A. Baguio, UC Intern/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
