Teenager shot to death during Christmas party

CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old was shot dead while trying to pacify two groups of people who were making trouble during a Christmas party inside a school last Thursday night in barangay Masaba, Danao City.

Police believe that Joreyl Perez, an out-of-school youth was shot dead by someone who belonged to the rival group of his peers.

Investigation showed that Perez was attending a Christmas party at the Masaba National High School together with his friends who were studying at the school when the latter got into trouble with another group of people.

The victim tried to pacify the two groups, but shortly after an unidentified person shot him and hit him in the left side of his groin.

He was rushed to the Danao District Hospital and was later transferred to the Cebu City Medical Center in Cebu City. SPO4 Edgar Gomez of Danao Police Station said that the father of the victim later went to their police station and reported that his son died upon arriving at CCMC.
