CEBU, Philippines - Replacement of another candidate to seek a seat at the Provincial Board representing Cebu’s fifth district.
Tiu replaced urban poor leader Jacqueline Largo, who filed her certificate of candidacy last December 1, 2009.
Tiu presented her COC and the nomination of Liberal Party signed by gubernatorial candidate Hilario Davide III, who is also the provincial chairman of the party.
Provincial election officer Lionel Marco Castillano told The FREEMAN that Tiu presented all the necessary documents when she visited his office yesterday afternoon and filed her COC to replace Largo.
According to Castillano, so far only Tiu’s COC was filed before the provincial Comelec office as replacement.
Tiu, 60, served as mayor of Talisay before it became a city in December 2000. She sought the vice mayoralty post in 2004 elections, but lost to Vice Mayor Lani Abarquez.
In 2007, she filed her COC again for vice mayor of Talisay City but later gave way to the reelection bid of Abarquez. — Jose P. Sollano/WAB (FREEMAN NEWS)
