1 killed, 1 wounded in Taboan shooting

CEBU, Philippines - A 47-year-old utility worker at the Taboan Market was killed while a fruit vendor was injured in a shooting incident Tuesday afternoon. 

Patricio Parallon succumbed to several gunshot wounds to his body while Rizaldo M. Siato, 24, was hit in his buttocks.

Both are residents of Lakandula Street.

According to police investigation, Jaymar Dosdos, Parallon’s nephew, saw two men on a red motorcycle stop in the area.

The man riding in pillion alighted, approached the victim who was sitting on a coconut store and shot him many times.

The victim was hit in the forehead, chest, face, and head. Siato, who was watching television nearby, was also hit in his buttocks.

Both victims were taken to the Cebu City Medical Center where Parallon died few minutes later.

The gunmen then sped off towards Tres de Abril Street.

Police recovered two empty shells of apparently .40 caliber and two deformed slugs form the crime scene.
