CEBU, Philippines - A 54-year-old man died on the spot after he was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men while attending to his store in barangay Matab-ang in Toledo City last Wednesday afternoon.
The fatality was identified as Victorio Halandon, married, and a resident of the barangay.
Initial investigation revealed that Halandon was attending to his store when two unidentified men arrived on board a motorcycle and, without provocation, pulled out their guns and shot Halandon several times.
The victim was brought to Balamban District Hospital, but was declared him dead on arrival. He was hit on different parts of his body.
SPO2 Larry Pili of the Toledo City Police said five empty shells and two deformed slugs of a .45 caliber firearm were recovered from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, SPO2 Carmelito Hornalez drugs are now being considered as motive of the killing, albeit the information remains to be confirmed.
In a separate incident, a 42-year-old man was found dead down the drainage in barangay Banhigan, Dalaguete town the other night.
The victim was identified as Edwin Amahan, a resident of barangay Tapon.
PO2 Leornas of the Dalaguete police said the victim came from the house of his co-worker, Roland Dabucol, for a drinking spree and drove home hours later on his bicycle when he reportedly lost control and fell into the drainage.
