CEBU, Philippines - At least three houses were razed while another was partially damaged in a fire that hit sitio Kamatis in barangay Pacnaan, Mandaue City yesterday afternoon.
SFO1 Roy Garcia of the Mandaue Fire Station said four fire trucks were dispatched to the area after the fire was reported at 2:44 pm. The fire was reportedly controlled in three minutes, but a second alarm was raised before it was completely put out 30 minutes later.
No one was hurt in the incident, but damage was pegged at P85,000. All four houses were reportedly made of light materials.
Garcia said investigation is being conducted to determine the real cause of the fire.
Initial probe, however, revealed that unplugged appliances at the room of one George Armecin, 40, who was renting at the house of Boy Cesnero, may have been the cause of the fire.
Yesterday’s fire was the second that hit Mandaue City this month – the first was on November 6 in barangay Alang-Alang wherein three houses were destroyed. Damage was pegged at P400,000. – Niña G. Sumacot/JMO
