Siblings charged for neighbor's death
CEBU, Philippines - Two brothers were charged for murder yesterday before the Regional Trial Court for allegedly stabbing and shooting to death their neighbor last July.
Charged were brothers Dondon and Jovanie Bogo for allegedly killing Benhur Talisayan of barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla town.
Teresita Quimada, the complainant, in her affidavit said that she read a text message informing her that her nephew Benhur is already dead allegedly perpetrated by the Bogo brothers who reportedly took turns in stabbing and shooting the victim to death in the afternoon of July 26.
According to Quimada, when she gathered information on the death of her nephew she found out that Benhur had an argument with Jovanie, for a still undetermined reason, in a drinking spree inside a store owned by a certain An-An.
She said that while the victim was in a shanty mixing wine and a processed tea drink, he was stabbed and shot by brothers Jovanie and Dondon Bogo.
As no counter affidavit was received from the respondents, the case is now elevated at the RTC.
“There was treachery present because the victim was tricked into believing that the brothers were his friends only to be killed on that day. The undersigned believes that the victim has let down his guard because they were in merrymaking and thinking that nothing untoward would happen but it was not the case after all because such ended his life,” Prosecutor Rustom Presas said.
