CEBU, Philippines - A security guard shot his supervisor to death when the latter allegedly did not heed his request not to report his violation.
The victim was identified as Elmer Sanico, 42, security supervisor/field inspector of Sentinel Security Agency Inc. while the suspect was identified as Loreto Javines, 54.
The incident happened evening last Sunday at a branch of Fuji Xerox along D. Jakosalem Street in barangay Cogon Ramos where Javines was detailed. Authorities learned that Sanico caught Javines sleeping while on duty, which prompted him to confront the suspect.
Javines apparently requested Sanico not to report his violation, but the latter did not heed the same.
Virgelio Lucero, another security guard detailed at the same establishment, and one Romulo Cabillada, told authorities they heard a burst of gunfire and saw Sanico running away from the establishment with Javines running after him.
Javines then fired a shot and Sanico slumped on the ground.
Sanico was rushed to the Chong Hua Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival. He sustained gunshot wounds on his lower back and stomach.
Javines later voluntarily surrendered to responding personnel of the Mobile Patrol Group, PO3 Crisanto Abella and PO2 Menardo Valles, and turned over his service firearm. He said he shot the victim for not heeding his request.
Javines is now detained at the Cebu City Police Office awaiting formal charges against him. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
