CEBU, Philippines - Two oriental-looking men, believed to be foreigners, were found dead bearing several gunshot and stab wounds in a dumpsite in the mountainous sitio Tres, barangay Uling, Naga yesterday morning.
The bodies were taken to the Saint Francis Funeral Homes along N. Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City. The victims remain unidentified until late afternoon yesterday.
Police are still trying to determine if the victims are Korean citizens, but then they said that they also look like Chinese, Taiwanese and Japanese nationals.
SPO4 George Canumon, Naga Police Station investigator, believes that the bodies were thrown in the dumpsite the previous night.
Canumon said they had difficulty in identifying the victims, because aside from the fact that there was no identification card or wallet found in their pockets, their faces and bodies were bathed in blood.
The first body bore four gunshot wounds – one in the left chest and in the forehead, and two on the nape.
The other body, found a few meters away from the first one, bore a gunshot wound on the left side of the torso also below the chest, buttocks, and nape. Several stab wounds were also found.
Police said that the necks of both victims were also slashed.
Both victims were wearing shorts, long sleeves and rubber shoes.
One Marlon Oberes, a resident of the said place, told investigators that around 9 p.m. the previous day, he saw a yellow multicab stop above the area of the dump site.
Oberes believes that the passenger (or passengers) inside the vehicle noticed his presence and moved a few meters more where the bodies were found the following morning.
Oberes said that the multicab, which had no plate numbers, came from Toledo City.
The place where the bodies were reportedly thrown is not too far from houses.
Canumon said they are working hard to identify the victims and hope that relatives or friends looking for two missing men would come out and make the identification. — Niña G. Sumacot with Darrel Carumba of Banat News/NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
