Slain spinster believed raped
CEBU, Philippines - The decaying body of an elderly unmarried woman was found inside the house she was a caretaker of in barangay Palanas, Ronda town last Sunday evening.
A neighbor named Alma Tomaquin reported of a foul smell in the area to barangay chairman Rolando Ogi who immediately went to the house together with his barangay tanods.
The village chief and the tanods themselves confirmed that the stench indeed was from inside the house where the 57-year-old Lorna Ricamora was sprawled on the floor on a pool of blood. Ogi then called for police assistance.
Though it was initially believed that a burglar could have broken inside the house as shown by jalousie blades on a window reported to have been forcibly removed, pieces of jewelry left scattered on the floor puzzled the authorities.
Another angle pursued is rape before the woman was killed, as the police were able to recover the two gold bracelets, a pair of earrings and even cash left beside the body of Ricamora. However, it wasn’t specified as to how much the cash was.
SPO1 Gerome Pardo, desk officer of the Ronda Police Station, said that they already requested the assistance of the Scene of the Crime Operatives to make further investigation to determine what could have really caused the death of the victim.
Neighbors told the police officers that they last saw the victim on Friday evening.
