20 more barangays get financial aid from city

-

CEBU, Philippines - At least 20 barangays from the city’s south district will enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the city government for the direct release of financial assistance to implement the barangays’ projects and programs.

Representatives of the city and the barangays will sign the MOA today.

Councilor Jose Daluz, chairman of the City Council committee on budget and finance, said the MOA is a pre-requisite to the release of the funds directly to the barangays and to ensure proper liquidation.

Daluz said the funds are released directly to the barangays to expedite the implementation of the programs and projects.

“Kay kung ang city maoy mo-implement sa proyekto, dugay man gud kaayo mao nga atong ihatag ang kwarta sa barangay aron sila na lay mupa-bid sa project,” Daluz said.

Projects covered by the funds include road concreting and repair especially in the mountain barangays; completion of multi-purpose building and drainage systems; and construction of day care centers, artesian wells, and communal toilets.

The barangays to sign the MOA include Babag, Bonbon, Buhisan, Pamutan, Pung-ol Sibugay, Sapangdaku, Sinsin, Sudlon I, Sudlon II, Tabunan, Tagba-o, Toong Labangon, Suba, Punta Princesa, Poblacion Pardo, Inayawan, Sawang Calero, Mambaling, Tisa, Guadalupe, Basak San Nicolas and Calamba.

Basak San Nicolas will get the biggest share of the funds amounting to P4.6 million.

Friday last week, some barangays in the north district also signed a MOA with Mayor Tomas Osmeña for the release of their financial assistance. The barangays include Kasambagan, Kalubihan, Mabolo, Adlaon, Cambinocot, Tinago, Lusaran, Busay, Paril and Paril/Cambinocot. — Elly Bolonos/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
