CEBU, Philippines - President Gloria Arroyo is scheduled to visit Cebu today for a re-enactment ceremony of two House bills.
The Philippine Information Agency-7 said Arroyo is set to arrive at 1:30 p.m. today, then head to the MIP lounge of the Mactan Cebu International Airport for the start of the ceremony.
The president will sign the re-enactment of Republic Act 9726 also known as an Act separating the City of Lapu-Lapu from the 6th Legislative district of the Province of Cebu to constitute the lone district of Lapu-Lapu City.
She will also sign the enactment of RA 9744 also known as an Act converting the Cebu State College of Science and Technology System in Cebu City and all its satellite campuses located in the Cebu province into a state university to be known as the Cebu Technological University.
Expected to be among the reception party are Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Lapu-Lapu Mayor Arturo Radaza, 6th District Cebu Rep. Nerissa Soon-Ruiz and Cebu City North District Rep. Raul Del Mar and MCIA general manager Danilo Francia.
To complete the reception party are Central Command Deputy Commander Brig. Gen. Jessie Dellosa, 2nd Air Div. Commander Maj. Gen. Nathaniel Legaspi, and 560th Air Base Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Edgardo Mendoza.
Soon-Ruiz and Del Mar will give their message during the program.
An estimated 200 guests composed of city and barangay officials of Lapu-Lapu City and other guests are expected to attend the event which will end at 2 p.m.
