DOST scholar tops ECE board

CEBU, Philippines - A scholar of the Department of Science and Technology topped the Electronics and Communications Engineering Licensure Examination held last October 26-27.

Rizaldo Blanco Fuentes, an ECE graduate of the Cebu Institute of Technology, ranked first after garnering a 91.10 percent rating.

Of the 4,322 who took the exams, only 1,131 succeeded.

“I did not expect to top the board, although I was confident of passing the two-day exam,” Fuentes said.

He started his review this June and that he always makes it sure that “what is being taught should not go to waste.”

“If you work hard for your studies, God will reward your efforts,” he said.

Engr. Rene Burt Llanto, regional director of the DOST, said that Fuentes’ achievement has in “many folds advanced the tradition of academic excellence in the DOST Scholarship Program.”

“He stands as an epitome of an ideal scholar: Intelligent, persevering, and dedicated,” Llanto added.

Aside from CIT, the University of Cebu again proves its mettle of putting its graduates on the list of the Top Ten in every board examination.
