Minor stabbed for coins; robbery victim cries rape

CEBU, Philippines - A 16-year-old boy was placed under police custody after he stabbed his 17-year-old neighbor who reportedly refused to give him money for a computer game evening last Monday in barangay Tejero.

The victim was playing a game at a computer for rent when the suspect arrived and demanded that he be given coins for him to play the game. However, when the victim refused to do so, the suspect reportedly got irked and boxed the victim on the face and challenged him to a fistfight.

A two exchanged blows until the suspect took out a pointed weapon and stabbed the victim on his arm. The victim was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Residents in the area got hold of the suspect and turned him over to authorities. He is a student of the Tejero Elementary School and is believed to be under the influence of rugby.

The victim is an out-of-school youth.

Meanwhile, in Barili town, a man was placed under arrest last Saturday night after he was tagged as among the two men who allegedly robbed a young couple and raped the 15-year-old girl in front of her boyfriend at gunpoint.

Investigation showed that the young couple was dating in a dim and secluded area of a beach resort early evening last Saturday when they heard footsteps heading towards them. Thinking that it was their companions, the couple checked who was coming only to be greeted by two men with guns pointed at them.

The suspects allegedly demanded that the victims take off their clothes, which the victims did out of fear. With the victims naked, one of the suspects allegedly raped the girl in front of her boyfriend.

After which, the suspects fled using a motorcycle with the clothes of the victims. The clothes were later found scattered on the road a few meters from the scene of the incident

The victims later reported the incident to authorities together with their friends whom they subsequently met on the way to the police station.

The boy lost his Italian necklace and bracelet and P600 cash while the girl also lost her earrings.

Later that night, police accosted a certain Erick Allanic, 22, a habal-habal driver, during a hot pursuit operation. The 17-year-old boy who was with him during the arrest was also placed under arrest for bringing an unlicensed .38 caliber pistol.

The victims positively identified Allanic as one of the two men who stole their belongings and raped the girl. Allanic is a resident of Dumanjug town.

Robbery and rape charges were filed against Allanic while a separate charge for illegal possession of firearm was filed against the 17-year-old boy. – Gabriel C. Bonjoc and Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
