4 houses burned, another damaged in Mandaue fire

-

CEBU, Philippines - A fire razed four houses and partially damaged one other early yesterday morning in sitio Lunggo-an, barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

The Mandaue City Fire Station received the alarm at 7:43 am and four fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the area. The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation and the Accident Control and Emergency Rescue Team stationed in the city also helped in the operation.

The fire was raised to second alarm and lasted for 47 minutes. Damage was pegged at P220,000. The affected houses were reportedly made of light materials.

SFO2 Roy Garcia said they are yet to determine the cause of the fire, but initial investigation revealed it started from the room of a certain Calvin Emano situated at the second floor of the first house that got burned down.

Earlier, hours before the fire in Mandaue, a spontaneous combustion killed an elderly couple in Lapu-Lapu City who apparently failed to escape from their burning house past 1 am last Friday. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
