CEBU, Philippines - A 64-year-old man died after figuring in a vehicular accident the other night along the national highway in sitio Tapal, barangay Guadalupe, Carcar.
The man was identified as Antonio Campungan of sitio Cristo Rey, barangay Guadalupe.
Investigation showed that the victim was driving a blue Honda XRM motorcycle, with plate number YQ 1275, on his way to Mantalongon in Barili town when he reportedly rammed onto another blue Honda Wave motorcycle, bearing plate number GG 3482, driven by Ronino Caballero, 21, who was bound for his residence in sitio Tapal.
The two, who were traveling in opposite directions, were negotiating a bend of the road when Campungan reportedly attempted to overtake Caballero.
However, his motorcycle encroached on the lane of Caballero and consequently bumped onto the left side portion of the latter’s motorcycle.
Both drivers sustained injuries on the different parts of their bodies.
They were rushed to the Carcar Emergency Hospital where Campungan was declared dead on arrival. His body now lies at the St. Peter Funeral Homes.
After getting treatment, Caballero was taken to the Carcar Police Station. But he was later released after arriving at a settlement with the family of Campungan. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
