Tommy willing to reconcile with Sonny, Tony and Totol
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor On-Leave Tomas Osmeña is in the mood for reconciliation.
He said that he is willing to reconcile with estranged cousin and former Senator John Henry ‘Sonny’ Osmeña, South District Rep. Antonio Cuenco and lawyer Aristotle ‘Totol’ Batuhan, a former stalwart of the opposition Kugi Uswag Sugbo (Kusug).
He however said that such reconciliation can only happen if the three would not block the reality of his pet project – the South Road Properties (SRP).
Incidentally, the three as well as the mayor, who heads the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), are all supporting the presidential bid of Senator Benigo ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III of the Liberal Party.
“Wa man koy problema bisan kinsa diha basta dili lang sila mubunal sa akong mga proyekto labi pang SRP, dili man na personalan akong gigamit,” Osmeña said.
Though not bothered at all, the mayor still expressed his disappointment when Capitol officials sued the city government for the joint venture deal with Filinvest Land Inc.
“Dili lang ko ganahan nga bunalan atong proyekto kay dako kaayo atong gi-expect, nag-agwanta ta ug pila ka tuig unya namunga na gyud ang akong gitanom nga mangga, nakakwarta na ang siyudad, unya ilang gibunalan ang proyekto,” Osmeña said.
The mayor also expressed confidence that they can deliver a landslide win for the tandem of Aquino and Senator Manuel ‘Mar’ Roxas II in the 2010 elections here in Cebu.
The BOPK announced the other day that it is supporting the tandem for president and vice president.
Several Cebu local personalities have also come forward to back the duo.
Cuenco was among the first being very close to Aquino’s mother, former President Corazon Aquino, who the congressman helped secure at the Carmelites Monastery at the start of the epic People Power Revolt in 1986.
The bloodless revolt led to the toppling of the 20-year reign of dictator Ferdinand Marcos, who fled the country.
Rama To Back Lp
Acting Mayor Michael Rama said that despite being a member of the ruling Lakas-Kampi Party, he will be endorsing the Aquino-Roxas tandem next year.
Rama said that his loyalty is to BOPK, the party founded by Mayor Osmeña.
“I hope that the national party will understand, our choice of Lakas was more of the President (Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) and since the President is no longer running, I will support the will of BOPK,” Rama said.
He added that he has not officially taken oath as Lakas member contrary to reports. — Elly Bolonos with Ferliza Contratista/NLQ (FREEMAN NEWS)
