Carmen inks sister-city agreement with Makati

-

CEBU, Philippines - The town of Carmen has been added to the number of towns and cities in Cebu that signed a sisterhood agreement with Makati City.

Carmen Mayor Sonia Pua led town officials during their visit to Makati where they formally signed the agreement. Mayor Jejomar Binay signed on behalf of Makati.

Pua expressed their thanks for the opportunity to be given assistance by the City of Makati.

The town also received multicabs from Makati as part of the initial assistance given to the town as part of the agreement.

According to Pua, they will also expect computers, books and other support from Makati City.

“Pinaagi sa atong sisterhood agreement sa dakbayan sa Makati makapaabot kita og tabang aron madala nato sa katawhan sa lungsod sa Carmen,” Pua said.

The cities and municipalities of Cebu province that established a sisterhood agreement with Makati City have received assistance and donations from the country’s financial capital.

Binay said the Makati Ciy government is allowed to donate and extend support to any local government units it has sisterhood agreement with.

According to Binay, the city government of Makati has enough resources to address the needs of its residents.

The towns and cities in Cebu received donations like computers, textbooks and vehicles from Makati, and their officials also held a “Lakbay-Aral” tour in the city.

Binay said he wants to share the success of Makati City with other local government units, especially the poor cities and municipalities.

Since last year, Makati City has signed sisterhood agreement with the cities of Talisay and Toledo and the municipalities of Bogo, Compostela, Liloan, Consolacion, Carmen and Dalaguete and Tabuelan. — Jose P. Sollano/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
