"Bloods" member charged in court for shooting minor

CEBU, Philippines - A charge for attempted homicide was filed in court against a member of a fraternity who allegedly shot a minor during the Sugat festival in Minglanilla town last April.

Prosecutors filed the case against Libon Kehr Bargayo in relation to Republic Act 7262 or the law against violence on women and children.

The 15-year-old complainant alleged that he and his two friends were on board a tricycle dawn on April 12 when Bargayo and other members of “Bloods” flagged down the vehicle at the junction of Velpal Subdivision.

The complainant said that as the tricycle stopped, Bargayo’s group pulled him out of the vehicle and mauled him. Later, he felt a hard object hitting his back, followed by a gunshot.

He said it was only when the suspects scampered from the scene when he felt numbness on his back, which made him realize he has been shot.

The complainant said he is a member of “Crips,” the rival of “Bloods.” He said the two groups have a long standing fight.

One of Bargayo’s companions during the time of the incident pointed to him as having shot the complainant.

Prosecutors recommended P12,000 for Bargayo’s temporary liberty. – Jasmin R. Uy/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
