1 hurt, 6 nabbed in disco brawl
CEBU, Philippines - Two groups of youngsters engaged in a brawl inside a bar in Mango Square Mall past 2 a.m. yesterday that resulted to the injury of one person and the arrest of six others for the damage they caused in the property of the establishment.
The first group includes Reynan Cañete, 21, of Sanciangko St; Rex Nino Redelosa, 18, of Borromeo St; Ronell Antiquena of Colon St. and a 17-year-old male who is a resident of Barangay Tisa. Members of the other group were Windy Caneda, 18, and Bett Apod, 22, and Alan Abella Ubod, 24, all residents of Guadalupe, Cebu City.
All members of the two groups, except for Ubod, who was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center for treatment, were arrested by the security guards of Mango Square and were turned over to the policemen of Fuente Police Station for detention.
Ubod was seriously injured after he was beaten hard by the group of Cañete. Councilor Gerardo Carillo, who happened to pass by the area during the incident, brought the victim to the city hospital.
“Morag kadto siya (Ubod) mao’y nagrabihan kay mao’y gitabangan. Gani nakaihi na to siya ug dugo,” Carillo said.
Garrido Ampong, security guard of Pump 2, arrested the members of the two groups after Mango Park’s electronic barrier was partially destroyed, with estimated amount of damage of P5,000.
“Sa sulod pa lang sa Pump 2 didto na to nagkabingkilay kay nagkasinikhanay unya pag abot sa gawas didto na nagbinatuay og botelya ug kadtong ang usa maoy nagrabihan kay daghan kaayo ang nagtabang niya,” Ampong said.
The six disco goers were arrested after the management of Mango Square Mall complained of malicious mischief.
Elements of Fuente Police Station are still waiting for parties, especially Ubod, if they will be filing separate case against the group of Cañete.
For his part, Carillo said he will be studying the security measures implemented by Mango Square Mall in order to eliminate the same incident to happen in the future. –Ramil V. Ayuman/WAB (FREEMAN NEWS)
