Customs exceeds 2009 target collection

CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs-Collection District-7 has already exceeded its 2009 target collection of P4,244,440,000 even before the end of the third quarter.

BOC-Cebu headed by district collector Ricardo Belmonte was able to collect P4,426,959,174.24 from the first quarter up to the third quarter or already higher by P182,519,174.24 against its 2009 annual target.

BOC assessment chief Carlos Corsiga said that from January to June of this year alone BOC already posted an overall collection of P2,837,988,507.93 which is P63,148,507.93 higher than its target collection of P2,774,840,000.

In January, the district had an assigned target of P395 million but it collected P418,377,383.10 or P23,3777,383.10 more.

For the month of February, its actual collection reached to P400,978,487.86 or P9,978,487.86 higher than its target collection of P391 million. In March, its actual collection was P474,124,196.67 which is slightly higher by P124,196.67 or 0.03 percent as compared to its P474 million target.

In April, BOC posted a much lower collection surplus of P13,565,969.16 as it was able to collect P489,765,969.16 against its P485,200,000 target collection for the said month.

For May, its surplus in its collection continue to dwindle as BOC was able to collect P511,110,685.04 though still higher by P2,470,685.04 as compared to its P508,640,000 assigned target for the month.

Last month, BOC exceeded its target by P62,810,715.62 as it was able to collect P553.010,715.62 as compared to their target collection of P490.2 million. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/BRP (FREEMAN NEWS)
