-

CEBU, Philippines - A self-confessed drug trader was arrested past 1am yesterday in sitio Micabaha, barangay Duljo-Fatima after several packs of alleged illegal drugs were recovered from his possession.

Rommel Ministerio Alcordo, 40, was placed under arrest with 22 small plastic packs of shabu placed inside a transparent plastic case in his possession. He was arrested during patrol conducted by personnel of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office.

PO3’s Benigno Andrew Ilagan and Helario Coderos and PO1’s Melberto Yosores and Ruben Quita were patrolling past midnight in barangay Duljo Fatima when they chanced upon Alcordo.

Chief Insp. George Ylanan, head of IDMB, said the suspect is a “known personality” in illegal drug pushing.

Alcordo, in an interview with reporters yesterday, admitted he bought the 22 packs of shabu for P80 per pack from another man and was about to sell them for P90 each when police arrested him.

He also admitted selling illegal drugs when there are requests. He has been arrested years ago for the same offense. Alcordo is now detained while awaiting formal charges against him.

Two hours before Alcordo’s arrest, a separate group of IDMB personnel responded to a citizen complaint and arrested two people who were engaged in gambling also in barangay Duljo Fatima. Three gambling machines were confiscated.

Placed under arrest were Rolando Denilsa Chua, 47, of Alumnos, barangay Basak-San Nicolas and Lucila Barote Villarojo, 32, of barangay Duljo-Fatima.

The IDMB personnel penetrated sitio Micabaha around 11 pm and eventually confiscated two moli-moli gambling machines, one functional and the other non-functional.

The police also recovered a video karera machine from which they took the CPU, woofer, coin box, TV monitor and bet money amounting to P1,483.

Chua and Villarojo, who happened to be in the area and were reportedly caught in the act of betting, were also apprehended.

The suspects are facing charges for alleged the violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Illegal Gambling Law. They are now detained at the CCPO stockade. – Niña G. Sumacot/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
