CEBU, Philippines - The body of a man was found hanging from a mango tree few meters away from his home in barangay Ocaña, Carcar the other dawn.
It was his mother-in-law Jesusa Tagakuliotan who discovered the body of 26-year-old Rey Banal, also a resident of said place.
Initial investigation made by the Carcar Police revealed that the sister-in-law of Banal saw him the other day in a drinking binge with some friends. This sister-in-law reportedly even scolded Banal for having time with his drinking sprees but could not take care of his own son.
After that, it was learned that Banal took his life by tying a cord around his neck connected to a branch of a mango tree.
Upon her discovery of Banal’s already limp body, Tagakuliotan immediately called the assistance of the police officers who then took the victim to the Jesus Paras Memorial Hospital in Carcar where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police officers are still to find out if there was foul play in the death of Banal. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
