PDEA files charges vs suspected pusher

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has filed charges against an alleged drug pusher in Talisay City.

Although Joel Bacus, also known as Ungok, denied the charges in his counter-affidavit, he still faces violation of Section 5 of the Dangerous Drugs Act after Prosecutor Jenelyn Forosuelo found no ill motive on the part of the PDEA agents to sue him for the crime.

Last April 13, PDEA agents received a report from a concerned citizen of the drug selling activities in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City of a certain “Ungok.”

They proceeded to the place to conduct a buy-bust operation.

PDEA agent Jonar Cuayzon, together with an informant, spotted “Ungok” sitting outside the gate of his house. When they approached, “Ungok” asked “Pila man,” to which the agent answered “dos bai.”

However, sensing that it was a buy-bust operation, Ungok was able to elude arrest.

Despite Ungok’s denial that he was not around when the agents conducted the buy-bust operation, he could not prove any ill motive of the agents in involving him in the case.

No bail was recommended for Bacus’ temporary liberty. – Jasmin R. Uy/LPM   (THE FREEMAN)
