Councilman denies shooting wife's alleged "paramour"

-

CEBU, Philippines -  Binaliw barangay councilman Raul Diano finally broke his silence, as he denied shooting the alleged paramour of his estranged wife last September 5.

Eugenio Bolo, 31, the alleged paramour of Diano’s wife, Evelyn, was seriously wounded after two motorcycle-riding men shot him while he was having a snack with Evelyn at the North Reclamation Area. He was hit on the right cheek.

In an interview with TV Patrol Central Visayas, Diano said he was attending the regular session of the Binaliw barangay council and thereafter went to his tire shop in barangay Talamban when the shooting happened.

“Ngano apilon man ko niya sa pagpusil sa kauban sa akong kanhi asawa nga niapil pa man ko ug session sa barangay unya diretso dayon ko sa among tindahan diha sa Talamban. Unya nagmasuko man ko nila nga nadawat na man nako nga dunay laing ang akong asawa” Diano said.

Diano and Evelyn have parted ways for four years now.

“Gani, kun buot huna-hunaon, akoy alkansi sa among panagbuwag kay nahurot gyud ang akong tinigom tungod sa pagbinuang sa akong asawa. Dili sad ko buot nga hugaw-hugawan ang among pangalan ilabi na nga nagserbisyo ko sa barangay,” Diano said.

Diano operates a sand and gravel business in barangay Binaliw while Evelyn a trucking business in Talisay City.

Evelyn earlier tagged Diano as the suspect in the shooting. Diano said is willing to face charges once he receives a copy of a formal complaint.

Diano’s younger sister Elizabeth, however, expressed fears that Bolo would simply retaliate instead of filing formal charges.

“Ang akong gikahadlukan nga dili sila mokiha kay mubawos ra sila,” Elizabeth said. — Ramil V. Ayuman/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
