Beat patrols up in crime-prone areas

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Police Office also has its share of the celebration of the National Crime Prevention Week by deploying all its personnel to crime-prone areas of the city for two to three hours on a particular day.

CCPO director Patrocinio Comendador said that he himself will join his men in conducting beat patrols in various areas of Cebu City, especially on streets where petty crimes such as robbery, snatching, theft, among others, mostly happen.

Comendador said that all his men will be sent out to streets for two to three hours for “colossal police visibility.”

He, however, declined to elaborate further as to when and where particularly they would conduct the said beat patrolling, so as not to give potential robbers, snatchers, thieves, and the like the hint.

Aside from that, CCPO will also conduct massive campaign against street kids and carry out anti-graffiti programs within this week, Comendador said.

Observance of the National Crime Prevention Week started yesterday with the theme “Labanan ang krimen, pamilya patatagin” which reflects the significant role of the family in curbing criminalities in the country. – Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
