CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old promodiser died after he was stabbed by man who accused him of having a relationship with his live-in partner past 5 p.m. yesterday at one of the malls in Cebu City.
The victim, Arnold Bonghanoy, a resident of V. Rama Avenue, was rushed to the nearby Perpetual Succor Hospital but was declared dead at 6:25 p.m. while the suspect, Melvin Compra, 26, of Wireless, Mandaue City, was immediately arrested.
In a report over dyAB, Bonghanoy was allegedly doing his job as a promodiser of the mall when Compra suddenly stabbed him twice both on the right side of his chest and the stomach.
Homicide investigator SPO3 Geoffrey Gutual said Compra reportedly went inside the mall and pretended to buy an 8-inch kitchen knife at the kitchenware that he used to attack the victim who was at the grocery area.
The suspect allegedly knew the victim because no less than his live-in partner, who works at the same mall also as staff clerk, admitted to him that she has another lover who was Bonghanoy. The victim also allegedly knew the suspect.
The suspect was also taken to the Cebu City Medical Center after he was mauled by other promodisers inside the mall.
Responding Mobile Patrol Group will turn over Compra to the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section and the suspect is expected to face a charge of murder for the death of Bonghanoy. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB
