Cold shoulder from families forces police to close probe

-

CEBU, Philippines - The case involving a couple who stabbed each other in barangay Lahug dawn last Saturday is now considered closed, the homicide police said.

PO3 Geoffrey Gutual of the city police homicide section said the families of live-in couple Ana Marie Marquez Nuez and Von Eric Moyo allegedly did not cooperate in the investigation and instead chose to return to Bicol.

The families of the couple reportedly just went to the homicide office to pick up the belongings of the couple that were recovered from the crime scene.

In fact, Moyo’s family fetched his remains from the San Fernando Funeral Homes last Sunday and had the body flown to Albay on the same day.

The next day, Nuez’ elder brother and friend went to the homicide office to retrieve her wallet and mobile phone. Her body was also flown to Albay on the same day.

Gutual said that jealousy was strongest motive that triggered Moyo to stab Nuez dead.

Nuez’ brother reportedly told investigators Moyo might have been upset that Nuez’ legal husband will be returning from Korea where he currently works.

The couple’s house mates neighbors in La Guardia, Lahug also said that for a week before the incident, Moyo had not been sleeping well and had been drinking when he learned that Nuez’ husband would be returning to the country.

“Nahadlok (Moyo) nga magkabalik sila,” Gutual said.

It was not known however if Nuez and her husband were still communicating during the time Nuez was already living with Moyo.
