Couple charged for robbing taxi driver

CEBU, Philippines - A couple accused of robbing the driver of the taxi they were riding in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City were charged with robbery before the Regional Trial Court.

The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted Alberto Impec and Ann Rose Amaba for allegedly robbing taxi driver Henry Nudalo of his earnings.

Impec and Amaba boarded a Worldwide Taxi driven by Nudalo on August 16 around 11:40 p.m. along Figueroa Street, Cebu City. The accused ordered him to bring them to Convergys in Banawa.

While passing through Happy Valley Street, Impec, who was sitting on the front seat, ordered the victim to stop and immediately pulled out a kitchen knife and announced the holdup.

Nudalo said he tried to grapple for the knife but Impec stabbed him but he was able to parry it. The two accused however succeeded to get his P1,300 earnings.

Nudalo said he rammed his taxi into a concrete electric post and pushed the accused out of the taxi. Both accused tried to run away but were held by the responding policemen.

The prosecutor’s office recommended P100,000 bail for each of the accused. – Fred P. Languido/LPM    (THE FREEMAN)
