Ambulance hits man, takes him to hospital

CEBU, Philippines - In an ironic twist of fate an ambulance ended up being the cause of injuries after the vehicle hit a man crossing the national highway in barangay Fuente in Carmen town last Wednesday afternoon.

Imogen Deguilmo, 31, a municipal employee of the municipality of Carmen, was injured in different parts of his body after he was accidentally hit by the ambulance driven by Cirilo Monisit, 46, of barangay Damulo, Sogod town.

The vehicle, with license plate number SEY-749, was owned by the Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital of Sogod.

The ambulance also hit the left rear portion of an L300 van-for-hire, with license plate number GWP-433, driven by Ricarlito Tubiano, 48, of barangay Canamucan, Compostela town.

Nobody was reportedly injured inside the said passenger vehicle.

According to investigators the victim had just gotten off the van-for-hire and allegedly ran across the road when he was hit by the ambulance bound for Cebu City.

After hitting the victim Monisit lost control of the ambulance and it also hit the van-for-hire.

The victim was rushed by the ambulance to the Danao City Hospital but he was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment.

The driver voluntarily surrendered to the Danao City police and was later picked up by elements of Carmen police station. — Niña G. Sumacot/BRP(THE FREEMAN)
