Lack of cases closes NBI Bohol office

-

CEBU, Philippines - The lack of cases being filed for investigation in Bohol has prompted the management of the National Bureau of Investigation to close its district office in that province and recall all the agents assigned there back to their mother unit.

The decision to close the NBI Bohol District Office came out during the recent command conference held in Manila attended by all regional directors after the Bohol office did not report any significant accomplishments.

NBI Central Visayas regional director Medardo de Lemos said the agents are also complaining that they are lagging behind in the performance evaluations because there are no cases filed for them to investigate.

The NBI management reportedly consulted Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado on the predicament of the agents. Aumentado allowed the closure provided that the clearance office will be retained.

De Lemos said that starting next month the district office in Bohol will be closed and that three of the agents assigned there will be recalled to Cebu while the other two will report back to their mother units elsewhere.

De Lemos said that a clearance office will be retained in the province to service the clearance applicants. Bohol however will continue to get the investigative services of the bureau because the regional office in Cebu can send agents if the need arises.

The agents in Bohol were given until the end of this month to wind up their cases before reporting back to their mother units. — Fred P. Languido/BRP(THE FREEMAN)
