DSWD increases membership of its learning network
CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 has widened the membership of its Learning Network called L-Net as it included schools, organizations, agencies and individuals with license to provide trainings and program on social welfare and development.
L-Net seeks to establish a self-regulating learning network in which members and social welfare constituents can access, provide and avail of quality programs on social welfare.
Among the capability-building resources that can be shared by these learning institutions are trainings on leadership, management, finance systems and technologies programs as well as evaluations, good governance, gender equality, and research development.
With the widened membership, the network hopes to enhance the professional competencies of organizations and individuals who are experts in their fields.
It is also hoped that there will be upgrade in the curricula for Continuing Professional Education among students and professionals in the academe.
Meanwhile, DSWD-7 is now accepting foreign students from local or foreign schools for its Student Training Program.
In the last five years, the department has partnered with several schools that have been sending students for actual practice through internship or on-the-job training.
Students undergo actual hands-on practice in different fields at the DSWD-7 centers and institutions like the Reception and Study Center for Children, Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Home for Girls and the Haven.
The program also provides students meaningful learning experience and opportunities to appreciate government service delivery in social welfare and development.
DSWD is encouraging schools, universities and students specially those in the field of social work, clinical and industrial psychology, secretarial, physical therapy, occupational therapy, care giving, and associate computer to tie up with the department for an internship program. — Jessica Ann R.
