CEBU, Philippines - The Provincial Board yesterday approved the first supplemental budget of the year amounting to P328.5 million.
Based on documents for budget of expenditures and sources of funds submitted for approval, the supplemental budget would cover activities, programs, and projects classified as general services, social services and economic services.
Board Member Wenceslao Gakit, chairman of the committee on budget and finance, said the expenditures that are not included in the annual budget for fiscal year 2008 needs the funding requirements.
Under Section 325 of the Local Government Code, appropriations, whether annual or supplemental, for personal services of a local government unit for one fiscal year shall not exceed 45 percent in the case the first class provinces.
From the supplemental budget, P11.970 million will go to the operations of district hospitals; P576,000 for the operation of Cebu Bus Terminal, and P261,017 goes to the province’s general fund. — Garry B. Lao/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
