Navforcen civac benefits 1,000 Oslob residents

CEBU, Philippines - A medical and dental mission initiated by the Philippine Navy’s Naval Forces Central extended care to around 1,000 residents of barangay Lagundi, Oslob town last August 1 of this year.

Over 600 adult and senior citizen-patients and 268 children were given medical attention while 38 patients were treated by volunteer dentists.

Aside from the medical and dental treatment, a supplemental feeding was also launched by the Civil Military Operations Group-Central and the 511th Naval Reserve Squadron which benefited 357 children of the said barangay.

Oslob Mayor Ronald Guaren and barangay Lagunde chairman Estudita Abines-Dee personally welcomed the medical and dental team in the area.

The activity was in line with the Command’s thrust on military operations to improve civil and community relations to the residents in Oslob.

Navforcen, likewise, aims to strengthen ties between the people of Oslob and the military, particularly the Philippine Navy, through civilian outreach program such as this.

Lieutenant Commander Gregorio Sanchez, commanding officer of the 511th Naval Reserve Squadron which is the operating arm of the Command, initiated the activity with the help of volunteer doctors, dentists and nurses from the Cebu Doctors Hospital and the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Further, along with the information caravan carried out in the area was a recruitment drive of the Philippine Military Academy with the task of encouraging potential PMA cadets. — PR/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
