Man kills self over failed love

-

CEBU, Philippines - A 25-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his rented room with the use of a rope yesterday morning in Sitio Isla Aleger, Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City allegedly over problems on love.

Benjamen Pulgo, a native of Gingo-og, Misamis Oriental, was found dead past 9 a.m. already lifeless while hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom.

Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section personnel responded to the area and tried to see if the victim could still be revived but he was confirmed dead already.

Elvis Pulgo, brother of the victim, alleged to the police that he was about to go inside the room of the victim, as what he has used to do, to take a bath there and when nobody answered when he knocked on the door, he peeped through a hole on it and saw his brother hanging.

He then sought assistance from his co-boarders, who called for the police assistance.

Responding policemen recovered the 30-inch long rope used by the victim in killing himself, a Comelec identification card, and a cellular phone from the crime scene.

The cellular phone reportedly contained text messages from a girl named “Kyl” that said she wants to “cool off” with the victim and leaving it up to him if he wanted to commit suicide.

In the “sent messages” folder of the victim’s cell phone, he allegedly texted her that he want to talk to her and declared his undying love for the girl telling her that he would commit suicide if she would not meet him. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
