Work on P28 million pediatrics facility at VSMMC starts

CEBU, Philippines - Construction works for the pediatrics building worth P28 million at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center started yesterday.

Once completed, the building will house the intensive care unit facility for cases involving children.

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri led the laying of the capsule for Phase 1 of the four-storey building. Dr. Gerardo Aquino, chief of VSMMC, and Benedict Uy, president of the Rotary Club of Cebu Port Center, assisted Zubiri.

Prior to the groundbreaking ceremony, the three signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the project funded from the Priority Development Assistance Fund of the senator.

The release of the P28 million was made possible after the conference of the Rotary Club District 3860 held at the Cebu International Convention Center last year. Zubiri was the guest speaker at that time.

Aquino said that the new facility is set to accommodate over a hundred patients. — Jose P. Sollano/MEEV   (THE FREEMAN)
