CEBU, Philippines - The Coalition for Better Education-7 will launch the “Education Nation” on Monday which aims to help plug the leaks, minimize the waste and stop the corruption in the public school system.
Luchi Flores, executive director of the coalition said, in a press release, that if they can do this within the administration and of the next, then, quality education for all will not be too far an aspiration.
Flores said that they have bonded to form Education Nation because they believe that every Filipino must have the quality education and that they understand further that politics has often been the bane of education reform as political considerations have poisoned education policies time and time again.
The Education Nation will be launched on Monday, 8:30 a.m. at the Center for Teacher Excellence of the Cebu Normal University.
The launching activity is reportedly the second of a series of Education Watch Kapihan Fora that CBE initiated last June, according to Flores.
On the same day, the CBE will also celebrate their 8th founding anniversary wherein a general membership meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Sinulog Ballroom 3, City Sports Club, Cebu Business Park.
Flores said that through the general assembly, the public and the media, in particular, will learn more about the coalition and how the group and the media can forge ties and work together in achieving quality education for all.
“It is our hope from this day forward, we will not only hear many voices for learning and the learner, but most importantly, hear one Cebu education voice,” Flores said. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
