6 escapees from Carmen police station back in jail
CEBU, Philippines - The last of the six detainees of the Carmen Police that escaped last month finally surrendered but that policemen assigned to the police station are still not off the hook.
Christopher Berot, who was convicted for robbery, surrendered back to the Carmen Police yesterday morning. He and fellow detainees Jeffrey Jagdon, another robbery convict; Christopher Berot and Marcelito Pisao, robbery suspects; Rannie Manulat, suspect for illegal possession of firearms; and a 16-year-old boy who was accused of rape, slipped past security dawn last July 26.
Jagdon and the 16-year-old boy were recaptured evening on the same day while the others surrendered in the days that followed.
Despite the six already back in jail, Provincial Police Director Jesus Gaquing said the investigation against the policemen continues and the award supposed to be given to them for curbing robberies in the area are still put on hold.
Last Monday, Insp. Carlos Reyes Jr., chief of the Carmen Police Station, filed administrative and criminal cases for serious neglect of duty and infidelity in the custody of prisoners against his own men in relation to the escape.
Facing charges are SPO1 Gil Jabonero, PO2 Dario Baguio, PO1 Romano Morales, SPO2 Simplicio Gibo, and PO1 Ceilito Suerte.
