500 sacks of pirated discs confiscated

CEBU, Philippines - Five hundred sacks of pirated optical media discs were seized yesterday here by elements of the Optical Media Board led by Manny Mangubat, chief of the Enforcement and Investigation Division of the OMB.

The team raided stalls operating inside a building and a trade center along Colon Street, a mall at the downtown area, and another mall in the uptown area.

In a phone interview over dySS Super Radyo, Mangubat said that the raid was in line with their intensified campaign against pirated discs such as DVDs, VCDs, CDs, games software and pornographic materials. The items seized were immediately crushed into pieces.

Mangubat added that OMB chairman Eduardo “Edu” Manzano dispatched them here in Metro Cebu after receiving a bunch of letter and phone complaints on the alleged rampant selling of pirated discs here even inside establishments operating legally. - Johanna T. Natavio/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
