1 hurt, another dead in Dalaguete shooting
CEBU, Philippines - A fiesta celebration in Dalaguete town turned out bloody yesterday dawn after two men were shot by an unidentified assailant.
Angelo Pialan, 24 years old, single, and a resident of sitio Ginakot in barangay Salug of the said town; and Jun Andrew Cariquitan, 22, also single, of sitio Upper Lahug were shot by a still unidentified perpetrator yesterday dawn in sitio Lahug, barangay Mantalongon.
PO2 Cirilo Glepa of the Dalaguete Police Station said that the victims were from a benefit dance in the said place, being part of the merriment in line with the fiesta celebration.
The two were seen hanging out at the yard of a friend’s house together with their other companions. Suddenly, gunshots were heard; after which, the two were seen slumped on the ground, wounded.
Pialan sustained a gunshot wound on the right torso while Cariquitan was hit in the buttock.
The victims were then rushed to the Cardinal Rosales Hospital in the said place but Pialan was declared dead after a few hours. Cariquitan was later transferred to a hospital here in the city.
Glepa believes that the attack has something to do with jealousy as the two men were said to be frequenting the place, visiting some girls like a certain Maddie. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
