Robber on Talisay police 'watch list' shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged notorious robber was shot and killed by an unidentified assailant morning the other day at 6th Street, Mansueto Village, barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.
Oliver Jimenez, 22, a resident of Bulacao who sustained two gunshot wounds on his stomach was rushed by bystanders and his brother Clifford to the Talisay District Hospital but was immediately transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center because of his critical condition.
However, Jimenez expired at around 1 p.m. that day.
Police investigation showed that prior to the incident, the victim was seen watching a volleyball game in the area when two motorcycle-riding men wearing bonnets suddenly arrived.
The man riding in pillion reportedly got off the vehicle and without any word, fired shots at the victim. The perpetrators then hurriedly left the area.
Investigating officer PO3 Mikie Espina said that Jimenez is included in the list of the Talisay City Police Station as one of the notorious robbers in the city.
Espina said that Jimenez was arrested last year together with two other robbery suspects after victimizing a female jeepney passenger and reportedly pushing her out of the moving vehicle.
He further said that Jimenez and his two cohorts were charged before the court but the case did not prosper because the victim did not show up in the hearing allegedly fearing for her life.
Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death the previous night allegedly by his neighbor over a personal grudge.
His body was found yesterday morning in sitio Lasang, barangay Soong 1 (in Mactan), Lapu-Lapu City.
Barangay tanods discovered the body of 29-year-old Norman Agusto at around 6 a.m. yesterday. His body bore two stab wounds to the stomach.

The investigation conducted by SPO3 Rex Ybañez further revealed that prior to the incident the victim and Impas had a verbal tussle.
